Description

These beautifully handmade little bowls come from India. Use them as pickle bowls or taster pots, they hold just enough pickle or food for a normal serving of 3-4 teaspoons and is cheap enough to discard after use or season them for repeated use, they are strong and durable. They are a great complement to our handmade cups, see cup no.3 in the cups section.

Use them for candles, a great ethnic type candle bowl! Wash with PVA and water before use to seal the surface.

We have 4 types, a large and a small and either a rough rustic or smooth finish. Sizes will vary being handmade. Sold in packs of 4.

  • Small smooth – Approx 8cm diam x 2cm high – 55p ea.
  • Large smooth – Approx 11cm diam x 3cm high – 65p ea.
  • Small rustic – Approx 8.5cm diam x 3.5cm high – 55p ea.
  • Large rustic – Approx 12cm diam x 4cm high – 65p ea.

Steep in water before use for 24hrs and clean with a small amount of detergent. Dry thoroughly.

These are made by small rural potters, there will be an occasional fault in them but they will be useable.

Most of our tableware products are sourced in India and Spain. Samples of products have been subjected to laboratory testing for leaching of heavy metals into the contents of the cups. Results of these tests are available upon demand but all samples have passed these EU regulatory tests and can be deemed to be suitable ‘For Food Use’. We try, where possible, to source our supplies from small independent and family run businesses.

Some of our tableware products are unglazed earthenware and therefore disposable, you cannot use them again for food as the porous earthenware can hold the previous product but you can re-use them as flowerpots, paintpots, trinket pots etc. They are not frostproof.

Please be aware that the products we supply have been formed in a mould and have been fired in a kiln. These are natural products made from 100% clay and as a result after firing they can be subject to slight distortion and twisting and also display small firecracks. This is a natural result of the drying and firing process and cannot be helped and does not affect the structure of the product.
